ABOUT

MILITARY MINDSET

MILITARY MINDSET has been founded by former RAF Officer, Allistair McNab, who is intent on helping to raise awareness and fight the stigma around Mental Health issues.

Allistair was medically discharged from the Royal Air Force in 2012 after sustaining an injury on an exercise, ending an 8-year career. This led to a prolonged battle with poor mental health, which eventually saw him homeless in 2013. Since then, Allistair has battled back with the help of family and friends to complete his Undergraduate and Master’s degree programmes, to become a mental health advocate and build an acute understanding of mental health issues. With his personal and lived experiences alongside his academic studies, it is his intention to help train, educate and raise awareness around key mental health issues.

Not only does Allistair personally suffer with high functioning anxiety, depression and PTSD, he has lived alongside the effects of mental illness from a young age. Several close family members and friends have suffered from mental health conditions, some of whom have considered, attempted or completed suicide. With his personal and lived experiences alongside his academic studies and now as a Mental Health First Aid (England) Instructor, he aims to help train, educate and facilitate the growing awareness around mental ill health.

Just as Allistair wishes to fight and speak up around the impact of mental health, it is an expressed wish that as this business grows and develops, others will join his cause and help raise awareness by speaking out and offering their stories around mental health.
